Don't fill your mind with hateful anti-Christian garbage by reading secular literature. We should all be reading The Bible, which is a beautiful and factual history/science book, filled with such wonderful tales of murder, rape, condoning rape, war, condoning slavery, selling your daughter into slavery, beating your wife, and stoning adulterers, as well as others who disagree with you, among other colorful passages.
If you read too many books that don't include the Bible, Glenn Beck, Ayn Rand, Michael Savage, David Cupelian, or other rightwing conspiracy theorists, your mind might be more open to higher ~*~intellectual thought~*~ thus leading you to question your religious upbringing. And nothing could be worse than that!

On a more serious note, one of the many, many reasons I think FILLING ONE'S MIND WITH IMMORAL GARBAGE reading books that you may disagree with (and I've read quite a bit from things I disagree with, such as the above-mentioned authors/titles) is that it combats misanthropy. Now, as mentioned before, I am a misanthrope, but it doesn't come from reading ~*~bad, secular~*~ literature. It's from the people I meet in day-to-day life. But I still feel that the more I read and the more I learn, the less of a misanthrope I become, and the more good I am able to find in humanity. I haven't lost faith in humanity yet, although I think people are not inherently good, I have discovered that the more I read and understand about the world - (even that which I morally disagree with) - I find myself shedding more and more bitterness about people, society, and humanity. Simply, books and literature are the prescription I take for alleviating my bitterness. And I can always laugh at the ones I am morally opposed to, such as: perennial comedian/village idiot, Glenn Beck, or any titles published by Focus on the Family (even their website is pure lol!)

Nah, just kidding, public schools are evil for pushing Shakespeare and J.D. Salinger and Steinbeck on our youth. Grapes of Wrath is nothing to laugh at!!! Instead, here's an enlightening book by Dr. James Dobson about shielding your children from the gay agenda. Oh, and in case you missed the news, taking psychotropic medication such as anti-depressants is actually a liberal elitist plot akin to having sex with dead bodies (necrophilia character type). The only prescription you need is Jesus, more Jesus. Close your mind to everything but Jesus and only then will you find true paranoiawisdom.
